With more than 90 flights per week taking off from Nairobi to Kisumu, you can’t possibly miss some ultra-cheap Kisumu flight deals. Flights from Nairobi to Kisumu start from as low as Ksh.3950 on Fly540 to Ksh. 4500 on Silverstone.

It is fairly short flight that lasts barely 50 minutes. Most of the airlines serving the route are low cost carriers such as JamboJet, Fly540, and Silverstone. Kenya Airways also offers a “legacy” flight on the route daily with business class and Economy tickets.

Here is a look at the cheapest flights from Nairobi to Kisumu:-

Fly540

Many may not know this but Fly540 offers the cheapest flight offers on the Nairobi Kisumu route if you book early enough. With early bookings, you can pay as low as Ksh.3950 for a Nairobi to Kisumu flight on Fly540. The flights depart from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Fly540 offers multiple daily flights on the route.

JamboJet

JamboJet is the second cheapest airline on the route. If you book early enough, you can pay as low as Ksh.4200 for a Nairobi to Kisumu flight. It’s a Kenya Airways low cost subsidiary and apart from the cheap airfare, everything else on the airline is a la carte meaning you have to pay. These include for fees for seat reservation, checked baggage and for onboard meals.

Silverstone

The fast growing low cost carrier is the third cheapest airline on the route with fares as low as Ksh.4500. However, unlike the other two airlines above, its fares tend to remain fairly constant which means you can still grab a last minute ticket for only Ksh.4500. This is why it is generally regarded as the cheapest airline on the Nairobi Kisumu route even though you can get better deals on JamboJet and Fly540.

Freedom Air

This is a fairly new entrant on the Nairobi Kisumu route with flights launching just recently. You can fly on Freedom Air for low as Ksh.5500.

Kenya Airways

Kenya Airways also competes with its low cost subsidiary JamboJet on the Nairobi Kisumu flights with two cabin class options. For Economy tickets, you can pay as low as Ksh.6500 if you book early enough.

Don’t pay a fortune on Nairobi Kisumu flights. With a bit of planning and shopping savvy, you can always fly the route at the lowest rates possible.

Air Tanzania B787 Dreamliner Arrives

Tanzanian aviation has been on the doldrums ever since the collapse of the East African Airlines more than four decades ago but the country seems intent on rebuilding its aviation industry.

The airline has gone through several ups and downs with several partnerships and privatizations that didn’t work out. By 2015, it was an airline without a plane after its sole aircraft, the Bombardier Q300 was sent to South Africa for some heavy maintenance work.

However, the past three years have spelt good tidings for the Tanzanian flag carrier. It acquired three turbo prop planes  following a commitment by the new Tanzanian President Pombe Magufuli to revive the carrier. Three Bombardier Q400 planes were acquired in 2016 and leased to the airline and a Dash 8-400 was acquired in early 2018.

The latest acquisition is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner that has just arrived in Dar es Salaam and which will service international routes.

The Dreamliner is the fourth of the 7 aircraft that have been purchased by the Tanzanian government and are to be leased to Air Tanzania. It will serve the Mumbai, Bangkok and Guangzhou routes from September this year.

The turbo prop planes mainly serve the domestic Tanzanian routes such as Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Mbeya, Bukoba, Arusha, Tabora, Mtwara, Ruvuma and Zanzibar. Tanzania is a huge country with a great potential for aviation.

The airline will be acquiring another B787-8 Dreamliner by 2020 to boost its operation and its expansion plans.
